Lewis gives hints to lack of extension
After talking a little bit about his contract status and the lack of an extension last week, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said again on Friday that he is not going to worry about it.
Judging by Lewis comments during the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, it sounds as if there are some differing opinions on what the future structure of the team should look like more so than years or money.
The team approached Lewis, who was named NFL Coach of the Year by the Associated Press, about an extension in October and again at the end of the season.

“There’s a lot of things that go into that. In the direction of things that we’re doing and how we’re doing things that are important to me,” Lewis said. “There were things when I started in this job in 2003 that were important and we can’t change those. They have to stay on track and I have to make sure we’re continuing to progress that way. Those are the things that are more important to me as anything.

Like I always have on every forum I go to or have gone to. I copy and paste the text from the source site to the thread. for some reason as soon as the text contains a ' or " the rest of the text after that seems to disappear.

I did it the same way. This time without quotes to see if that mattered. Nope. Switched the a/A back and forth. Nope. I don't know why it is doing that to you but will do a little digging.

“I’m talking about structure, decision and how we do things and how I have the ability to do things that give us an opportunity to win football games.”
Lewis would not elaborate further but did say he was happy with the way things have progressed as he enters his eighth season, which ties him with team founder Paul Brown and Sam Wyche for the longest tenure in Bengals history. Lewis has an overall record of 56-57-1. He is second in wins in team history, nine behind Wyche.
Lewis is not worried, but does remain hopeful that both sides can work out a deal.
“I can’t worry, I’m not going to,” Lewis said. “The most important thing is what we do on the field in 2010. That’s the most important thing for those 53 guys we end up with and those coaches I have. Not whether I have a contract or not.”
“Again we’ll see what happens. Hopefully it is something that gets worked out. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t.”
Right now it appears as if both sides are not even close to a deal, but then again things appeared that way with defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer last month, and that got done within two days after things did not progress during the season.
